The 3 Best Ways to Print Etsy Invitations

I have three tried-and-true ways to print invitations purchased from Etsy or other online stores. You can’t go wrong with any of these options, but you should know what to expect from each.

1. Moo

Moo caters to business printing, but I love them for invitations, too. This is where I printed my wedding invitations!

I’ve done a lot of professional printing for my visual merchandising clients, so I’m pretty picky about quality, and Moo always hits it out of the park. The price is higher than other online printers, but their quality and customer service are exceptional.

Moo has sent me a set of prints with errors, but they fixed the mistake immediately.

The minimum cardstock thickness available from Moo is often the best option at other online printers. The difference is really noticable.

If Moo has the size I need, I always choose them.

Pros
  • Excellent print quality
  • Seven size options
  • Four paper options
  • Custom foil designs
  • You can choose if you want one or both sides to be coated (you can write on the uncoated side)
  • The cost per card on 16pt paper (if you buy 100 cards) is about $0.76, which is excellent.
Cons
  • No custom trim options
  • The minimum order is twenty-five
  • Ordering a sample isn’t possible
  • The envelopes aren’t great

2. Vistaprint

Professional printing can be tricky, but Vistaprint makes things beyond simple. This printing service has so many options, and while their quality isn’t quite as good as Moo, they don’t scrimp either.

I used Vistaprint for the menus and extra paper good for our wedding since they have so many options for a great price.

Vistaprint easily walks you through the entire online printing process, and you can even create designs through their site. When you are ready to print, select “upload your own design” and choose all your print options.

If you aren’t in a huge rush, I highly recommend that you order a free invitation sample kit so you know exactly the paper quality and options you want to select.

This site is best for invitations where you want a solid product without spending a ton of money. Many other companies (like Shutterfly) exist, but Vistaprint is a clear winner in this class.

Pros
  • Good print quality
  • Three size options
  • Two paper options
  • Optional foil edges
  • Optional custom trim cuts
  • The minimum order is one
  • The cost per card on 16pt paper (if you buy 100 cards) is about $0.89, which is excellent.
Cons
  • A higher price for lower quality
  • The standard matte cardstock feels cheap
  • The envelopes aren’t great

3. FedEx or UPS (Or Other Local Printer)

If you prefer to talk to a real person, UPS, FedEx, Staples, or a locally-owned print shop are always options. It’s great to touch the cardstock and talk to a person, but the caliber of your print will depend on each business location, which can be nerve-wracking if you are there to print wedding invitations.

Local print shops rarely have a minimum order, so always order one sample before placing your final order. If you can’t do this easily, I would pivot and go with an online company.

While I usually prefer to support local, many factors go into a printing business, and the companies above are headache-free.

Pros
  • You can talk to a real person
  • Same day printing
  • No shipping needed
Cons
  • Pricing varies depending on your location
  • Can be very frustrating and inefficient
  • Options may be limited

Addressed Envelopes Recommendations

As discussed before, print shop envelopes are usually cheap-looking. To elevate your Etsy invitations, buy nicer envelopes to make your invite look more custom. I always buy mine at envelopes.com.

If writing all those addresses out seems daunting or you need more time before your wedding, buying custom-addressed envelopes on Etsy is a great option. They’re costly, but they will look much nicer than standard print labels.

While custom envelopes are a great idea for wedding invitations, you can save money on your baby shower or graduation invitations by using a label maker or Avery Clear Labels. These are easy to print at home and will save a ton of time.

Finding the right printing solution for your Etsy invitations doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Whether you choose a professional service or decide to tackle it yourself, the key is matching your needs with the right printing method.

Remember to always order sample papers first, and don’t be afraid to ask questions – both your Etsy seller and printing service want you to be thrilled with the final result.
