Editorial Policy + Standards

And the reason why I never accept free products or sponsored posts…

Why Do I Write Articles?

I have been obsessed with design my entire life, and I love nothing more than sharing this knowledge with anyone interested. My background is a unique blend of architecture and marketing, allowing me to see through trends and know which companies are trustworthy.

I want to arm you with this knowledge and allow you to make the best decisions for your home. In a world that is only getting more expensive, making informed choices is more important than ever.

My goal is to be the go-to, most trustworthy place to help make informed selections for your home.

How Do I Conduct My Research?

I give as much thought to the product selections in my articles as I would if I were selecting them for a client. I only source from companies I know are reputable and would purchase from myself.

I aim to test every product myself, but there may be instances where this is not possible.

Whenever it’s not feasible for me to try an item, I conduct extensive research using trusted sources and go as far as possible to find the best information. This research includes calling company owners and learning about the history of their products and practices, talking directly to people who have used these products, and scouring reviews on Reddit, Houzz, BBB, Trustpilot, and other comprehensive sources. I compile all the available information into one place so you can make a well-informed purchase.

Sometimes, I leave companies off a list if they are not among the best options instead of saying negative things about a small company. If you ever have a question about an excluded company, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Why I Don’t Accept Free Products Or Sponsored Posts

Everywhere you look is a sponsored post these days, but my website will never contain these.

Blogs are required to say if they get free products (whether they really do is a different story). If a post is marked as “sponsored” because a product was free, I instantly don’t believe what I’m looking at. So I’m not going to do that to you.

Everything published at bethrmartin.com is because I believe it to be accurate and have not been influenced by free products or paid to say it.

How Is This Information Free, Then?

It is essential to me that the content provided at bethrmartin.com is free, but a lot of work, time, and resources go into creating this site. In order to deliver premium content at no cost to you, some articles may contain affiliate links which may provide a small commission.

I only recommend products I genuinely believe in and don’t allow affiliate commissions to influence my decisions. Using my affiliate links only helps to support my work and continue providing helpful information to my readers – at no cost to you.

How Is This Content Even Ad Free?

I think ads for random sites are annoying and ugly. And if you are at my site, you probably appreciate aesthetics like me, so I won’t bother you with that stuff.
